Welcome to Home Organization Now!
Almost everyone has the conscious goal of creating neat, organized surroundings. (I say “almost everyone” because there seems to be more than a few candidates fore the reality TV show “Hoarders”!)
Maintaining an organized environment reflects our psychological need for order as well as our need to locate items when we need them, like NOW! Neatness really does serve the need for speed.
And let’s face it, really busy people have the most to gain from organized and clean surroundings. When you’re in a hurry, locating the needed item has an almost desperate quality to it. Whatever the task, locating what we need quickly always translate to greater efficiency.
But dis-organization, normally in the form of clutter, feels like a natural phenomenon – it just seems to happen in law-of-nature fashion!
Regardless of whether or not clutter is a natural process, we do know that if we ignore home organization, we’ll soon be living in an unworkable environment that can carry a lot of social embarrassment along with it.
De-cluttering lends itself well to efficient planning. We can set a plan to keep our possessions and surroundings neat and clean. If we stick to the plan, our environment remains organized and the effort it takes to maintain it that way is minimal.
Getting from where we are right now (dis-organized) to a place of organization may take a great deal of effort if we’re starting with surroundings that resemble a post bomb blast site. But even that’s doable if we’re committed to change and have a plan to carry it out.
This site is about decluttering plans and techniques. The goal is to offer simple methods to regain control of our home surroundings and keep them that way. Specifically, we’re looking at plans to organize and clean:
- Garages
- Kitchens
- Living areas
- Bedrooms
- Closets
- Office areas
- Hobby areas
- And so on…
There are literally hundreds of ways to organize and clean our homes, and many, many products to help us achieve surroundings we can be proud of. Hopefully, this site will make the process easier to achieve.
You’ll see endless examples of how other people have succeeded in the face of even severe clutter to regain control and establish a plan to keep it that way. There are even suggestions of how to get and keep family members involved in the process.
Because this is a blog, feel free to comment on any of the posts or articles. Share your own experiences and get your questions answered. Anyway, that’s what Home Organization Now is all about. And now it’s up to you, so stay organized and in control!
